FIRST-MOUNTAIN-FLIGHTS AND RIDGE SOARING CLINIC
This clinic will be held in Caldera, Costa Rica. It will be during the rainy season and this allows us to fly during the mornings until mid afternoon in smooth ridge soaring conditions, pretty consistently, every day, before the weather starts deteriorating. We will do ground school and watch the videos from the day, after we get back from flying. We will also allow non participants to the clinic, to join us just for the fun of flying and having a great time!!

Requirements for clinic participants:
- P-1 rating or higher
- At least 10 tow flights
- Good ground handling skills.
- Own equipment is required including a 2 meter band radio.

- P-2 rating or higher.
- At least 20 mountain flights with excellent record.
- Excellent ground handling skills.
- 2 meter band radio.
PROGRAM (clinic participants):
- Wednesday, July 8th
2 PM - Pick up at San Jose airport at and transportation to lodging location.
5 PM - Two hour theory session.
8 PM - shuttle to Puntarenas (15 min drive) and back to lodging location
- Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday…
9 AM to 2 PM - Flights under radio guidance with shuttles from LZ to launch-site every hour
4 PM to 6 PM - Theory session (Thursday)
6 PM to 7 PM – Videos of the day.
8 PM - shuttles to Puntarenas (15 min drive) and back to lodging location

Trip to San Jose Airport, arriving at airport at 11 AM
PROGRAM (non participants):
- Wednesday, July 8th
2 PM - Pick up at San Jose airport at 2 PM and transportation to hotels in Puntarenas.

9 AM to 2 PM – Flights. Shuttles from LZ to launch-site every hour
2 PM shuttle to hotels in Puntarenas.

PARAGLIDING THERMAL FLYING
CLINIC
- Date: July 22nd through July 26th, 2009 (First class July 22nd at 8 PM)

Requirements:
- P-2 rating or higher
- At least 10 mountain take-offs
- Good ground handling skills.
- Atlanta Paragliding P-1 students will be required to have at least 20 tow flights, 8 hours of ground handling plus good spot landing skills. Additionally, these students will be restricted to mornings and evening flying, depending on conditions.
- A 2 meter band radio, reserve parachute and helmet will also be required. We also recommend having a vario.
PROGRAM:
The course begins on Wednesday the 22nd at 8 PM with a 2 hour theory session. This class is very important.
Every following day:
- 8 AM to 10 AM – Theory session (Thursday and Friday)
- 11 AM to 6 PM – Flights under radio guidance (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) with shuttles to launch-site every 2 hours during 4 days all the way through Sunday.
- 8 PM to 9 PM – Videos from the day. This activity can also be done at midday if conditions are too strong..

- Unlimited ascents to the takeoff on pre-established times every day
- Daily weather update

The course begins on Wednesday, July the 15th at 5 PM with a 4 hour theory session.
Every following day:
- 7:00 AM to 11 AM – Flying at Somerville Lake
- 2 PM to 3 PM – Videos from the day
- 4 PM to 8 PM – Flying at Somerville Lake
- 1 PM to 3 PM on Sunday – debrief and last Theory class + possible flights until the evening

- 6 tows over the lake.
- Radio guidance during all flights.

Additional flights over the lake will possible if conditions allow it, at $75 per
