FIRST-MOUNTAIN-FLIGHTS CLINIC
We do First-Mountain-Flights Clinics regularly for our students and also for independent pilots
that want to join us. They last only Saturday and Sunday. We decide which flying site to use
depending on the weather forecast, and so far the sites we have used are Keel Mountain, Tater
Hill, Pigeon Mountain, Chilhowee and Bell Mountain. We may cancel the weekend and push everything
forward to the next weekend if conditions don't look good.
IMPORTANT!! The first classroom session on Friday evening MUST be attended by first-timers
in order to be able to fly the next day.
- Dates:
2008, April 12th and 13th
2008, May 10th and 11th
2008, July 12th and 13th
2008, August 9th and 10th
We need a minimum of 6 students signed-in 5 days earlier to every clinic.
- Price:
$ 260.
If paid 5 days earlier $ 220
Students that have attended a clinic can assist to further clinics at half price
and don't
need to attend the first theory session.
Fees at flying sites are not included.
Requirements:
- P-1 rating or higher
- At least 10 tow flights
- Good ground handling skills.
- Depending on student skills, flying times could be restricted to mornings and evenings.
- Own equipment is required including a 2 meter band radio.
PROGRAM:

- 8 AM to 12 AM - Flights under radio guidance with shuttles to launch-site
every 2 hours
- 2 PM to 3 PM - Theory session
- 4 PM to 8 PM - Flights under radio guidance with shuttles to launch-site every
2 hours.

Price Includes:
- 4 hours of theory sessions
- Radio guidance during 2 days
- Unlimited ascents to the takeoff on pre-established times every day
- Certificate of attendance

PARAGLIDING THERMAL FLYING
CLINIC
- Date: April 9th through April 13th
- Site: Tater Hill, Boone, NC
- Organizer: Atlanta Paragliding Enterprises LLC.
- Instructor: Luis Rosenkjer (the 7 times Argentine National Champion and recent 1st place winner at the Tater Hill Paragliding Open)
- Minimum students signed-in by April 5th : 6
- Maximum vacancies for the clinic: 12
- Price: $ 390.

Requirements:
- P-2 rating or higher
- At least 10 mountain take-offs
- Good ground handling skills.
- Atlanta Paragliding P-1 students will be required to have at least 20 tow flights, 8 hours
of ground handling plus good spot landing skills. Additionally, these students will be restricted
to mornings and evening flying, depending on conditions.
- A 2 meter band radio, reserve parachute and helmet will also be required. We also recommend
having a vario.
PROGRAM:
The course begins on Wednesday the 9th at 7 PM with a 2 hour theory session. This class
is very important.
Every following day:
- 7:30 AM to 9 AM - Theory session (Thursday and Friday)
- 10 AM to 7 PM - Flights under radio guidance with shuttles to launch-site every
2 hours
- 8 PM to 9 PM - Videos from the day. This activity can also be done at midday if conditions
are too strong, and will be done early in the morning on Sunday.

- 6 hours of theory sessions
- Radio guidance during 3 days
- Unlimited ascents to the takeoff on pre-established times every day
- 1 CD with all raw video footage taken during the course
- Certificate of attendance

Every following day:
- 6:00 AM to 12 AM - Flying at Somerville Lake
- 2 PM to 3 PM - Videos from the day
- 5 PM to 8 PM - Flying at Somerville Lake
- 1 PM to 3 PM on Sunday - debrief and last Theory class + possible flights
until the evening

do the 4 hour theory session on June 28 th from 5 PM to 9 PM at APE.

- 6 tows over the lake.
- Radio guidance during all flights.

Additional flights over the lake will possible if conditions allow it, at $ 75 per
flight.
