Tandem thermal flying is only possible with
the appropriate weather conditions. The pilot and passenger get towed up to around 800 feet,
and then release from the tow line. At that time, the pilot will start searching for thermals.
Once he finds one of these warm and lighter raising air columns he will try to stay inside,
and climb as high as he and the passenger agree to go. Sometimes altitudes of 6.000 feet over
the ground, and flights of over 2 hours are possible. Vultures often join us, or we join them,
since in order to stay longer in the air, we are all searching for the same kind of lift. |
